Counselling St Albans
In order for psychotherapists to become accredited/ registered we have to undertake extensive training courses and clinical hours with clients. This is the minimum standard prospective clients should be looking for when searching for a therapist. All of the qualified therapists at Green Chair Counselling Service are highly trained and are registered with an accredited membership body, as a demonstration of their expertise. Whoever you see at Green Chair Counselling Service, you'll be with a professional and ethical therapist and treated with the utmost respect.
Lauren Street - Accredited Counselling Psychotherapist
Hello, my name is Lauren Street. I am the director of Green Chair Counselling Service in St Albans. I am an accredited Psychotherapist with The National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS) and also registered with The British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP). I primarily work using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy/ Rational Emotive Behavioural Therapy, however, I am also able to work with other therapeutic models that compliment this type of therapy. This gives me lots of tools to work with you in order to move forward and create lasting emotional change.
I have a passion for helping people and keep my clients at the heart of everything I do. My core belief is that if no two people are the same why should their therapy be? I'll work with you as an individual to find the most effective way to work through your issues. All my work is with adolescents, of a senior school age, & adults.

My clinical experience includes, although not limited to anxiety, depression, anger, eating disorders, relationship difficulties, OCD, phobias, loss, low self-esteem, suicidal thoughts, self-harm, gender identity/ dysphoria, sexuality, insomnia & emotional or physical burnout.
Carole Salter - Accredited Counselling Psychotherapist

Finding a good counsellor can be daunting and letting yourself be vulnerable to a stranger is not easy. I really understand this and I try and make the process as comfortable, safe and easy as possible.

My style of counselling is based on respect and empathy, encouraging and supporting you on your personal story. I can be there just for you, to listen and to challenge you. You will have an independent person on your team. No fuss, no doubting just 100% support for you.

I work on a full range of issues for individuals and couples including trauma and relationship or marriage difficulties aged 16 and above.
Karen Joseph - Accredited Counselling Psychotherapist
I am a fully qualified Psychotherapeutic Counsellor accredited with the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS) and believe the key to successful therapy is the relationship between client and therapist and working towards the best interest of clients at all times.
I work in a warm, empathetic and non-judgemental way, creating a safe and confidential space for you to explore emotional difficulty. You may be feeling distressed, anxious, low, isolated, lost, out of control or just have the feeling you’re not living life the way you want to. I am here to help.
I believe that 'one size doesn't fit all', so I'll use different models of therapy matched to your individual needs. I'll support you while you explore your concerns, discover new perspectives, source solutions and begin to feel empowered.
My ultimate aim is to fully support you, so that you can find resolution to your issue/s, experience peace, learn to accept what cannot be changed, be your best self and live your best life.

I have extensive experience working with young people and adults aged 13 and above.
Dawn McLaughlin - Accredited Counselling Psychotherapist
I am an accredited counsellor with National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society (NCPS), who aims to provide a welcoming, supportive and safe space for all of my clients. My approach is attachment-based and trauma-informed, and I also offer the use of creative arts (drawing, painting, sand play, poetry, clay) to help my younger clients express and process complex emotions. I have worked with a diverse range of clients, both primary-aged, adolescents and older.
Throughout the therapeutic process, I focus on gaining a trusting relationship, raising self-esteem, building inner strength and resources, and helping young people navigate their way through their issues. I offer a respectful, non-judgemental space to my clients, with the hope that they come to better accept themselves and lead happier, more well-balanced lives.
I am passionate about normalising the ongoing conversation about mental health in society, lowering the stigma around therapy and empowering people to reach out unashamedly for the support they need.

I have extensive experience working with children & young adults aged from 3-25 and can work with clients of all ages.
Lisa Rodger - Accredited Counselling Psychotherapist
I am a qualified Counsellor and Psychotherapist accredited with the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS) for working with adults over the age of 18. Additionally, I am currently in training to work with children and young people from ages 4 and above.

I understand that we all experience challenges and difficult times in our lives. During these times it can feel as if nobody understands us or know what we are going through. This can feel isolating and lonely. But you are not alone.
I offer support across a range of issues; from anxiety to stress, depression and low self-esteem. I specialise in working with loss and bereavement and the overwhelming emotions that can come with grief. Experiencing a significant loss – such as a death, a job, a friendship or simply moving to a new and challenging phase of life - can trigger a broad range of emotions.
I recognize that we are all unique, with our own values, needs and lived experiences. This is fundamental to how I approach my work with clients, enabling me to tailor the tools and techniques I use to best serve the person I am with. I can help you to recognise what strengthens you and what weakens you, enabling you to make positive choices to ensure these needs are met in the future.

I believe the best outcome for positive change comes from the relationship between me, the therapist, and you, the client. We will work together to grow your understanding and build on your inner resources. All my work is with clients aged 4 and above.
Emily Greenaway - Counselling Psychotherapist
I have recently qualified gaining a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling.

My personal life experiences led me to pursue my counselling studies, and has brought out a desire to work with those seeking clarity, support, and help, at a time in their lives when they need it most.
I understand the need for, and aim to deliver a respectful, non-judgmental, warm environment to help clients explore and cope with the problems that brought them to seek the support of a counsellor and that different methods and approaches are needed depending on clients’ situations and individual circumstances.
I am eager to bring all I have learnt into practice, and help make a difference to the quality of people’s lives.
All my work is with clients aged 16 and above.
